'There's small choice in rotten apples'
Shakespeare’s most outrageous comedy, The Taming of the Shrew introduces one of theatre’s great screwball double-acts, a couple hell-bent on confusing and outwitting each other right up to the play’s equivocal and controversial conclusion.
Synopsis
Two wealthy sisters in Padua must be married off. The modest, demure Bianca has no shortage of suitors, but who on earth will take the wild, ungovernable, shrewish Katherina? Only the gold-digging Petruchio, a man as maddeningly strong-willed and perverse as Katherina herself, is equal to the task of bullying her to the altar.

I was lucky enough to see this show in London in 2012 and was so very happy the Globe preserved it on DVD. Simon Paisley Day, Samantha Spiro and Toby Frow have put together the rowdiest, most exuberant production of this play you ever will see. A joy from start to finish.

Saw Taming of the Shrew on Monday- everyone should go. Prime example of the Globe doing what the Globe does best – a rollicking good evening!

Taming of the Shrew at the Globe last night was excellent; Pearce Quigley stole the show as Grumio. See it immediately.

Both HENRY V & TAMING OF THE SHREW @The_Globe given strong, clear, traditional productions; but there's also irreverence & playfulness, too.

Massively enjoyed The Taming of the Shrew, Simon Paisley Day & his wrinkly behind tonight @The_Globe . Clearly told with word play a-plenty.
Neil Dowden @Dowdy63
Globe's Taming of the Shrew is good knockabout fun - not subtle, or trying to be politically correct, but a roistering romance.

Much enjoyed Taming of the Shrew at @The_Globe - vibrant, great fun, well worth a visit.
Jim Carey @EarsJim
Great performance of Taming The Shrew at the Globe last night. They certainly know how to be true to the bawdy side of Shakespeare. Much fun.

Just been to see The Taming Of The Shrew at the Globe theatre, absolutely tremendous.

Went to the Globe Theatre last night with Ginette to see Taming of the Shrew. Excellent farcical production making a mockery of the misogyny that other versions of the play take seriously. I love the way the whole meaning of a play can be changed by the way the same lines are spoken. Going to the Globe is one of life's greatest pleasures. Tomorrow, once more unto Henry V, dear friends.

This is one of the best Globe productions I've seen. I'm jealous of all of you who haven't seen it yet! I may just have to go again....
